Bruce Marks
Owner/Stylist |
|
Bruce owns and operates Last Tangle in Washington and continues his work as a senior stylist. He is from London, where he trained and worked directly with many of the world’s top talent, such as Vidal Sassoon, Paul Mitchell and Harold Leighton. Bruce has over 40 years of experience and worked in London, New York and Vancouver. He has owned salons in Bermuda (where he also hosted TV and radio shows dealing with hair and skin care) and Old Town, Alexandria.
A master stylist, Bruce enjoys working with curly hair as well as any hair that is difficult to manage. He is also an expert in providing hair extensions.
Bruce is married with a teenage son and is a raving Arsenal soccer fan (with U.S. football a close second). |

Mary Tsiolis

Mary has been with Last Tangle in Washington since its opening in the early ‘80s. She is from Montreal, lived in Greece and has been a stylist for over 20 years. Mary trained in New York under the world famous Chadwicks (top stylists from London) and is expert in high fashion hairstyling involving curly hair. She loves to do color and highlighting. She is a regular at hair shows in NY, London, Paris and Las Vegas and has frequently won hair competitions.
Mary is married and enjoys traveling and the outdoors. Having lived in Montreal, she loves ice hocky and is a huge Montreal Canadiens fan. |

Dennis Loftis
|
|
Dennis is from Virginia and has been with Last Tangle in Washington since its opening in the early ‘80s. He has over 30 years of experience and is a licensed cosmetology instructor. He is expert in the most current, advanced cuts and blow dry trends and his great passion is coloring, creating formal updos for special occasions and providing hair smoothing keratin treatments. He loves creating fresh new looks with new color, cuts and style.
He is an avid reader of all literature, loves music, dinner with good friends and staying at home, relaxing with his dog. |

Robert Gonzalez
|
|
Robert is from Arizona and has been a hairstylist since the early ‘80s, having trained in London at the Vidal Sassoon Academy. He favors precision-cutting techniques and specializes in women’s hairstyling, including providing special occasion styles for weddings and black-tie events.
In his spare time, Robert enjoys teaching spinning classes. |

Jonee Brown
|

Jonee is from New Jersey and received her training in the DC area. She has been a hairstylist since the mid-‘80s and has advanced training certifications from Paul Mitchell schools. She has been with several award-winning hairstyling teams and specializes in total hair care for African-American hair, mastering the art of chemical relaxation, precision cutting, coloring, blow drying and a wide range of unique styling techniques.

Owen Greenland
|
|
Owen is from South Africa and has been a hairstylist for over 30 years. He specializes in short, curly hair, bobs, color and highlights.
In South Africa, Owen managed 4 salons, including the first nationally-recognized, all black salon. After arriving in the U.S. in 1985, Owen worked on Capitol Hill where his clients included many members of Congress, high profile lawyers, stage actors and TV personalities. During the ‘90s, he was regularly invited to the White House as a hairstylist for Presidential staff and has been featured in SPY magazine as one of DC’s top 6 hairdressers contracted to Congress. Owen has film experience as well, having served as the Head of the Make-up & Hair Department for the 2nd Unit of the film “Zulu Dawn”, starring Burt Lancaster and Bob Hoskins.
Owen’s background also includes TV production and social justice activities (e.g. environment/conservation; animal, women and gay rights; housing advocacy; and the breakdown of gender and racial barriers in athletics). He has competed in more than 40 marathons, several triathlons and was a champion in Velo-cycling as well as canoeing and kayaking. |

LaShae Simms
|

LaShae is a native Washingtonian and received her hairstyle training in North Carolina. She has a degree from Bauder Fashion College in fashion merchandising and has been a hairstylist since the mid-‘90s. She has provided hairstyling services for the Kennedy Center and Arena Stage.
LaShae specializes in working with African American hair and her focus is on bringing hair to its healthiest state prior to styling and coloring, She is expert in relaxing, highlighting, and coloring and especially enjoys working on short hairstyles involving precision cuts with lots of layering.
Her special interests include fashion photography and physical fitness and, having recently given birth to a lovely girl, she’s enjoying being a new mom. |

Carl Hamden
|

Carl is from Jordan and has lived in the DC area since 1987. He trained in Jordan as well as in the U.S. and has been a hairstylist since 1990. Carl enjoys working with all hair types and helping clients find new looks and color shades. He also specializes in hair extensions and hair smoothing keratin treatments.
Carl is family-oriented (he has 4 children), plays racquetball, enjoys socializing, and takes advantage of the DC area’s huge international scene. |

Chris is originally from Greece and received his training in New York, Paris and London. He has been a hairstylist since the early ‘90s. He is a master colorist, certified in the principles of dimension, correction, freedom and color depth in high fashion highlights and blonding. He is dedicated to the 5 basic elements of great hair design: proportion, balance, rhythm, emphasis and harmony.
Chris has performed in hair shows around the world for major companies such as Wella, L’Oreal, Redken and Goldwell. He enjoys working with all lengths and types of hair.
In his personal time, Chris enjoys fashion, sports, film and entertaining. |

Sally Chau

Sally is from Vietnam and has been a hairstylist since the early ‘90s. She excels in precision cuts best suited for individual facial structures, hair textures and lifestyles to help clients enhance their individual look and style. She has a strong focus on healthy hair care and has been at the forefront of Washington’s hair scene with straightening and smoothing frizzy, unmanageable hair as well as highlighting and coloring hair with treatments that shine and protect hair from humidity. Sally also specializes in hair extensions to provide extra volume and length.
Throughout her career, Sally has trained with top professionals such as Mark Garrison and Paul Mitchell in cities throughout the U.S. When not behind the chair, Sally enjoys fashion and her lovely daughter.

Danny is an innovator, artist, and visionary who splits his time between living in New York and Washington, DC. |

Bella Belilty |

Bella is from Paris and has been a hairstylist for over 40 years. She moved from Paris to DC in the early ‘70s and has owned several, successful salons where her clients have included many high profile personalities within several Presidential administrations as well as White House staff.
Bella is a true artist - in addition to hairstyling, her passions include sculpting in the medium of terra cotta. She has been commissioned by Queen Elizabeth of England and her sculpture resides in one of her palaces.
Bella lives most of the year in Florida – she commutes to DC on a monthly basis (for 4 consecutive days at a time) to continue her hairstyling services for clients. |
